Finding Your Rhythm This May
May always feels like the point where things either click or fall off. The weather improves, routines shift, and suddenly there is more temptation to skip sessions in favour of social plans or just being outside. That is not a bad thing, but it does mean your training needs a bit more intention.
Instead of chasing perfect weeks, focus on consistency in a slightly looser way. If you normally train four times a week and life gets busy, aim for three solid sessions and make them count. Quality over ticking boxes. A focused 45-minute workout where you actually push yourself will do far more than a distracted hour.
This is also a great time to get outside with your training. Walk more, run if you enjoy it, or even just finish a gym session with ten minutes in the fresh air. It sounds simple but it can boost energy levels and make everything feel less repetitive.
Nutrition wise, keep things balanced. Lighter meals tend to feel more appealing now, so lean into that. Think simple meals with protein, fruit, and plenty of colour. You do not need to overhaul everything, just tighten up the basics.
The main thing is not to overcomplicate it. Stay active, train with intent, and allow some flexibility. Progress in May often comes from doing the simple things well rather than chasing extremes.
