Every-body has Different Fitness Needs

A picture of glowing top-notch fitness, peak health, and invincible levels of wellbeing is the more or less universal image that is used to promote gyms and the health and fitness industry. For people who are not already gym members, these idealised images can be daunting. In reality,  gyms are filled with people of all different shapes, sizes and fitness levels, because every-body has different fitness needs.

For some people, it is true that joining a gym, exercising and training is all about achieving peak fitness, but for others, it is about being strong and healthy for the life they lead. Every-body’s life is different, so naturally being fit for life means different things to different people.

Depending on the demands that life makes on a person’s physical and mental health, so their availability for exercise may be affected. People who work full or part time and who have children at home or who care for disabled or elderly family members may have limited time and depleted energy levels when it comes to taking care of their own health and recreational needs, yet doing so remains important. The same is so for people who continue to work and lead active and engaged lives whilst experiencing chronic health conditions or living with disability.

Health-related fitness is a significant concept which always takes the needs of the individual into consideration and enables fitness programmes to be sustainable and, therefore, of long term benefit. Individual fitness trainers specialise in working with specific demographic groups, physical and mental health conditions.
